Description
Deep within the Sipsey Wilderness in northwest Alabama lays Bankhead Forest. There is a trail near the Thompson Creek Trailhead that leads to a campsite enjoyed by myself and others for over 30 years. A creek runs near this campsite and when the rain is good, a swimming hole appears. It's name has become the Blue Hole, so called because at times it is deep enough to be as blue at the ocean. At others it is calm, and mirror smooth, such as in this photograph. The tree fallen across the water used to hold a rope for swinging into the water but alas, to all things chaos comes.
